Representatives of the Tatosents (Tadevosyans, Poghosyans) extended family hold a significant place in shaping the history, lifestyle, and demographic profile of Rind village. The family’s chronicle is rich with episodes of migration, resettlement, and the creation of a new life, which are clearly recorded in 19th-century archival documents.
The roots of the Tatosents family trace back to the Khoy province of Parskahayk (Persian Armenia). Historical archives prove that their ancestors migrated from Khoy and settled in Vayots Dzor after 1835. Initially, the family settled in the neighboring village of Aghavnadzor.
A study of the Aghavnadzor parish registers reveals a very important genealogical fact: Tatos (Tadevos), the founder of the Tatosents branch in Rind, is the biological brother of Khachan, the founder of the well-known and large Khachanents family in Aghavnadzor. Incidentally, their blood relatives who remained in Aghavnadzor mostly bear the surname Khachatryan.
In the 1850s, Tatos left Aghavnadzor and finally moved to Rind with his family. Notably, they were not the only ones to migrate from Aghavnadzor to Rind; the Sudyents (Sargsyan) family had settled here earlier. Being an already established and reputable lineage, the Sudyents greatly assisted their former fellow villagers, the Tatosents, helping them quickly integrate and establish themselves in their new environment.
The first official mention of the family in the historical chronicle of Rind is found in the 1859 census data. In the parish register, the clerk made a special note next to this family’s name: “This family moved from the village of Aynazur [Aghavnadzor] in the same district.”
According to the parish registers of Rind, Tatos’s father was Poghos. The patriarch of the family, Tatos, was born in 1829; his wife was Horom. This family had five sons, becoming the foundation for the family’s large subsequent branches in Rind:
- Simon (born 1851)
- Harutyun (born 1853)
- Karapet (born 1859)
- Poghos (born 1865)
- Mkrtich (born 1870)
The descendants of Simon and Poghos produced particularly large branches in Rind village; today, their descendants mainly bear the surnames Tadevosyan and Poghosyan.
Simon’s branch: Simon’s wife is Heriknaz (born 1856). They had four sons:
- Zakara (born August 6, 1885)
- Yeranos (born 1886)
- Smbat (born 1892)
- Mushegh (born 1898)
Currently, the families of Zakara’s and Mushegh’s descendants live in the village, bearing the surname Tadevosyan.
Harutyun’s branch: Harutyun’s wife is Margarit (born 1851). Their sons are:
- Yenok (born May 1, 1885)
- Martiros (born 1887)
- Garnik (born 1907)
Poghos’s branch: Poghos’s wife is Yeghnar. They had three sons:
- Ruben (Urum)
- Karapet (born 1908)
- Zaven (born 1911)
Today, the families of Karapet’s and Zaven’s descendants live in the village, bearing the surname Poghosyan.
Passing through the difficult path of migration and taking root in the soil of Rind, the Tatosents became an integral part of the village’s chronicle. For decades, their representatives have been tillers of the land, skilled craftsmen breathing life into stone and wood, and dedicated teachers educating generations.
Ashot Tadevosyan, son of Derenik from Poghos’s branch, served as the principal of the Rind secondary school for two decades.
