How to Get to Rind: A Travel Guide

Rind opens its welcoming doors to all those seeking fresh air, a rich history, and authentic village charm. Knowing the exact location and transport routes will help you easily plan your vacation and reach our village smoothly.

Location and Main Entrance
Rind is located in the northwestern part of the Vayots Dzor region, on an elevated and picturesque plateau. It is 25 km west of the regional center Yeghegnadzor, and about 110 km southeast of the capital Yerevan. The village’s elevated position is so advantageous that when looking east from the Yelpin-Areni section of the Yerevan-Meghri (M2) highway, Rind is already clearly visible, as if inviting you to discover it.

Currently, there is one main asphalt road entering the village: arriving at Chiva village from the Yerevan-Meghri highway, you need to turn east and drive another 5 km of unobstructed ascent.

Regardless of your car’s class and clearance (whether an SUV or a sedan), reaching Rind is completely safe and comfortable. Popular taxi services operating in the country (GG, Yandex, etc.) also serve this destination.

Towards the monuments: The field roads leading from the village to the northern lands are well-maintained. Through them, you can easily reach Rind’s main attractions: Yeghegnalich (Reed Lake), the Rock-hewn church, the Hermit’s (Jgnavory) chapel, Spitak Kar (White Rock) fortress, as well as see more than three dozen historical and cultural monuments and obelisks.

Dirt trails: For lovers of adventure tourism and off-road driving, there are also dirt roads connecting Rind with the neighboring villages of Aghavnadzor, Areni, and Yelpin.

Public Transport and Communication
Years ago, when personal cars were scarce and reaching the city from the village required great effort, the villagers’ burden was eased by the regular Rind-Yerevan route, which was flawlessly driven for decades by the late Samvel Abrahamyan. Today, that tradition has been replaced by new and flexible solutions.

Currently, the most flexible and convenient way to reach Rind from Yerevan (towards Yeghegnadzor) is by finding a driver in the Facebook group «Տրանսպորտ Վայոց ձորում» (Transport in Vayots Dzor), as they offer trips at various times. Alternatively, regular minibuses depart from the Southern Bus Station area in Yerevan (near Labor Square) as soon as they fill up with passengers. The fare is 2,000 AMD. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Chiva village crossroads. From there, friendly locals driving up to Rind will gladly give you a ride to the village.

Distances and Approximate Time
The travel time to Rind, depending on road quality and weather conditions, averages:
