Spitak Qar (White Rock)
Spitak Qar is an exceptional geological and historical monument located within the territory of Rind village in the Vayots Dzor region. It is a majestic rock remnant (monadnock) that dominates the surrounding landscape. The monument is officially included in the list of state natural monuments of the Republic of Armenia (confirmed by a government decree on August 14, 2008).
History and Nature
Beyond its geological significance, Spitak Qar is also an ancient settlement site. Traces of a pre-Christian fortress are preserved on the summit of the rock, and an ancient village was located either on the rock itself or in the immediate vicinity.
The site becomes especially picturesque in the spring; during snowmelt and heavy rains, a beautiful waterfall cascades down over the White Rock, adding unique charm and vitality to this natural monument.
