Old Rind Village Site
Old Rind is an abandoned medieval Armenian settlement located in the western part of the Vayots Dzor province of the Syunik province of Historical Greater Armenia (Metz Hayk). It is situated on the eastern edge of the administrative territory of the current village of Rind in the present-day Vayots Dzor region. The village site is included in the list of immovable monuments of history and culture of Rind (ID: 11.37/3).
Due to a landslide, the village was abandoned in the second half of the 1960s. The inhabitants moved 3 km to the west and founded the current village of Rind in the “Tap” fields.
In the central part of the village are the ruins of the medieval Tsaghkavank Church, where a small chapel now stands. A portion of the front wall of the village school has also been preserved.
